Expanding What’s Possible: Bomanite & Marin Concrete

Bomanite Revealed using Glass Aggregates and Stencil Imprints to create designs into the pavement.
At Marin Concrete Construction, concrete has never been just about what’s beneath your feet. It is an opportunity to combine performance, craftsmanship, and design to create spaces that are built to last — and built to stand out.
As a licensed Bomanite contractor, Marin Concrete Construction has expanded our architectural and decorative concrete capabilities, giving our clients access to a broader range of specialized systems, finishes, textures, colors, and design possibilities.
For architects, landscape architects, general contractors, developers, and owners throughout Southern California, this means one concrete partner with the experience to execute both the structural and functional demands of a project and the architectural vision behind it.
What Is Bomanite?
Bomanite is a nationally recognized name in architectural and decorative concrete, with a network of specially trained and licensed contractors offering proprietary concrete systems and installation techniques. Through our Bomanite license, Marin Concrete can provide specialized architectural concrete solutions backed by established systems, technical resources, and an extensive selection of design options.
But the value goes beyond having more finishes to choose from. It gives project teams greater flexibility to use concrete as an intentional part of the overall design.

Our Expanded Architectural Concrete Capabilities
Our Bomanite capabilities allow us to offer solutions for a wide variety of commercial, institutional, entertainment, hospitality, municipal, and public-space applications.
Exposed Aggregate Concrete
Exposed aggregate continues to be one of the most versatile options for architectural flatwork. Depending on the desired appearance, aggregate selection, exposure, and finishing process can create anything from a subtle natural texture to a highly refined architectural surface.
Our capabilities include Bomanite exposed aggregate systems such as **Sandscape Texture, Sandscape Refined, Revealed, and Alloy**, opening the door to a broad spectrum of textures and appearances.
These systems can be especially well suited for plazas, pedestrian areas, courtyards, campuses, entertainment destinations, parks, hospitality environments, and other high-visibility spaces where durability and aesthetics need to work together.
Imprinted and Textured Concrete

Architectural concrete can also recreate the visual character of stone, masonry, tile, and other materials while retaining the benefits of a concrete installation. Bomanite imprinted and textured systems provide designers with extensive options for patterns, colors, textures, borders, and custom treatments. These systems can be used to establish distinct pedestrian zones, complement surrounding architecture, or create a unique visual identity for a project.
Cementitious Toppings and Specialty Finishes
Existing concrete does not always need to be removed to achieve a completely different appearance.
Specialized cementitious topping systems, including Bomanite Micro-Top and Thin-Set, can provide additional design flexibility for new and existing surfaces. Depending on the system and project conditions, these applications can be used to create smooth, textured, colored, patterned, or highly customized finishes.
This gives designers another tool for transforming concrete surfaces while maintaining the character and versatility of architectural concrete.
Void-Structured Concrete
One of the capabilities we are especially excited to bring to more projects is void-structured concrete.
These systems combine the strength and stability of reinforced concrete with open areas that can accommodate grass, aggregate, or other materials. The result can provide a durable load-bearing surface while supporting drainage, landscape integration, and reduced expanses of conventional paving.
Applications can include fire access lanes, overflow parking, emergency access, pedestrian areas, and landscape-driven site designs.
For landscape architects in particular, void-structured concrete creates another opportunity to rethink how hardscape and landscape interact.
More Than Decorative Concrete
Our Bomanite license complements the work Marin Concrete already performs throughout Southern California. As a full-scope concrete contractor, we understand that architectural concrete does not exist in isolation. Successful installations depend on what happens before the finish is ever applied — from grading and subgrade preparation to reinforcing, forming, placement, joints, drainage, sequencing, and quality control.
That allows our team to approach architectural concrete from both sides: the design intent and the construction reality.
Whether we are installing site concrete, structural concrete, architectural flatwork, specialty coatings, exposed aggregate, or a highly customized decorative system, our goal remains the same: deliver a finished product that performs as well as it looks.
A Resource for Architects and Landscape Architects
Our expanded capabilities also allow Marin Concrete to become involved earlier in the design process. We can work with architects, landscape architects, general contractors, and owners to discuss available systems, review finish concepts, provide samples, evaluate constructability, and help identify solutions appropriate for the intended application.
Marin Concrete also offers educational presentations referred to as “Lunch and Learn” covering topics such as exposed aggregate concrete systems, innovations in architectural concrete, and void-structured concrete, allowing design teams to explore these systems in greater detail. Early collaboration can make a significant difference, particularly when a project calls for custom aggregates, colors, patterns, specialty finishes, or transitions between multiple architectural concrete systems.
Building What’s Next
Becoming a licensed Bomanite contractor represents an exciting expansion of what Marin Concrete Construction can offer, but it also aligns naturally with what we have always done: take challenging concrete work and find a way to build it well. From structural and site concrete to highly visible architectural finishes, we are continuing to expand the ways we can support Southern California’s contractors, designers, developers, and owners.
Have an architectural concrete concept in mind?
Bring us in early. Whether you are evaluating an exposed aggregate finish, exploring decorative concrete options, considering a void-structured paving system, or looking for a specialty solution for an upcoming project, our team would be happy to help turn the concept into something buildable.
